After winter break, the girls at the very prestigious Longbourn Academy become obsessed with the prom. Lizzie Bennet, who attends Longbourn on a scholarship, isn’t interested in designer dresses and expensive shoes, but her best friend, Jane, might be — especially now that Charles Bingley is back from a semester in London.

Lizzie is happy about her friend’s burgeoning romance but less than impressed by Charles’s friend, Will Darcy, who’s snobby and pretentious. Darcy doesn’t seem to like Lizzie either, but she assumes it’s because her family doesn’t have money. Clearly, Will Darcy is a pompous jerk — so why does Lizzie find herself drawn to him anyway?

Will Lizzie’s pride and Will’s prejudice keep them apart? Or are they a prom couple in the making? Whatever the result, Elizabeth Eulberg, author of The Lonely Hearts Club, has concocted a very funny, completely stylish delight for any season — prom or otherwise.

I couldn't resist a retelling of Pride and Prejudice!! (although I have to admit I haven't read the original in it's entirety... yet. Although I do own three different copies of it.)

If I had to use one word to describe this novel it would be, cute! It was a very quick read too. This is a great way to introduce young readers to the story of Pride and Prejudice. It's easy to read and very fun. I'd say this one would even appeal to middle grade readers.

Lizzie is a lovable protagonist, with her hard work ethic and determination to make the best of her situation despite how most of her classmates treat her. I admired her immensely for that! I had a hard time swooning for Will as Darcy, but not many characters hold a candle to the Mr. Darcy.

From what I've read from the original story, Prom & Prejudice follows it rather well. (That being said I've only made it about half way through the original.) While I did enjoy reading the story, the things I loved about the original P&P, had a hard time transferring over to the updated version. The language for one... and I really missed the well fleshed out characters from the original.

Overall Prom & Prejudice was a quick and cute read that will appeal to readers looking for a simple love story!
