Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion . . . she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit -- more sparkly, more fun, more wild -- the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.

When Cricket -- a gifted inventor -- steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

Stephanie Perkins made a fan out of me with her debut novel Anna and the French Kiss. She did it yet again with her second novel Lola and the Boy Next Door!

I was one of the lucky people that snagged an advance reader copy of Lola at Book Expo America. While I sent most of my books home to myself by way of the postal service, there were a few that I saved back to read on the way home. Lola was one of those books! I read Lola while sitting in LaGuardia waiting for my flight to Chicago. That meant of course that I was crying several times in public. It wasn’t that Lola was a particularly sad story, because it really wasn’t. There were such honest moments that filled me with such emotion, that the tears couldn’t help but fall.

There are also cameos of two of my favorite characters, Anna and Etienne! It’s interesting to see how those two stories weave together!

I absolutely adored this story. I adored it’s characters! I simply loved everything about it. You’ll fall in love with Lola and her quirkiness too! Believe me!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this novel. There wasn’t one thing that I didn’t like about it. It was honest, funny, genuine, and everything I was hoping for and more.

Stephanie Perkins rocks my world.

You might like Lola and the Boy Next Door if you like: Elizabeth Scott, Sara Zarr & Jennifer E. Smith.
