I read once that water is a symbol for emotions. And for a while now, I've thought maybe my mother drowned in both.

Anna's life is upended when her father accepts a job transfer the summer before her junior year. It's bad enough that she has to leave her friends and her life behind, but her dad is moving them to the beach where her parents first met and fell in love- a place awash in memories that Anna would just as soon leave under the surface.

While life on the beach is pretty great, with ocean views and one adorable lifeguard in particular, there are also family secrets that were buried along the shore years ago. And the ebb and flow of the ocean's tide means that nothing- not the sea glass that she collects on the sand and not the truths behind Anna's mother's death- stays buried forever.

Moonglass is the prefect read to start your summer!

Anna's life revolves around the beach, that's where she grew up, that's where her parents met... that's where she lives. I am very jealous that the ocean is a mere stone throw away from her home. If this book doesn't get you in the mood for summer... I don't know what will!

Anna is a captivating character, she has more guts than I'd ever pretend to posses, I think that is one of the things that made me like her so much. She's so very different from me, she's actually the kind of person I wish I had the guts to be. And I don't mean to imply that she's perfect, because she's far from it. One of the big aspects of this novel is watching Anna deal with her grief and hurt that she's been holding on for so long.

The love story between Anna and Tyler was very sweet... it was slow and unpredictable, the kind of relationship that Anna needed.

Jessi is a very talented writer, it was easy to get lost in her story and her characters. A very impressive debut. I can't wait to read more from her!

Nothing to do with the book... but the cover is gorgeous!! The finished copy has this pearly sheen to it... SO PRETTY! It looks great on my bookshelf!
