Penny is sick of boys and sick of dating. So she vows: no more. It's a personal choice. . .and, of course, soon everyone wants to know about it. And a few other girls are inspired. A movement is born: The Lonely Hearts Club (named after the band from Sgt. Pepper). Penny is suddenly known for her nondating ways . . . which is too bad, because there's this certain boy she can't help but like. . . .
The Lonely Hearts Club was a great book. It was entertaining, fun and quick to read.
Penny Lane was a strong female character, she was endearing and just plain fun. I loved her quirkiness, her vulnerability and her clueless-ness!
And it was such a great message! This novel is very character driven, lots of dialogue, which I for one enjoy. I think that is what made it such a fast read.
This may seem like a story of dealing with a broken heart, but it's really a story of self discovery, trust and love. I loved seeing all of characters grow, not just Penny Lane. A lot of times you don't get to see that growth in supporting characters, it was something that really made this novel one of a kind.
I can't wait to read more of Eulberg's novels!
If you are looking for a fun, quick, cute, feel good novel, infused with the awesome-ness that is the Beatles, then do not look any further!
